Protect your business from a phishing attack

83% of businesses were the victim of a successful phishing attack in 2021 according to proofpoint’s 2022 State of the Phish study.

What is phishing?

Phishing is when a cyber attacker sends a fraudulent email pretending to be someone else. The email will prompt some type of action, such as clicking on a link, visiting a fake website, downloading an attachment or responding with information.

Cyber attackers sending phishing emails may pretend to be a retailer you do business with, your financial institution, a news outlet, your web service provider or any number of institutions you do business with or interact with. Phishing emails will use lookalike email addresses and often will contain logos and images that trick the victim into believing it is legitimate.

Stats on phishing

· Employees receive an average of 14 malicious emails every year (Verizon’s 2021 Data Breach Investigations Report)

· There has been a 400% increase in phishing attacks year-over-year (FBI)

· Breaches caused by phishing cost businesses an average of $4.65 million (IBM’s 2021 Cost of a Data Breach Report). Small to midsize businesses can easily suffer attacks costing over $1 million.
